Joel Grimes graduated from the University of Arizona 1984 with a BFA in Photography, and soon after moved to Denver Colorado and setup shop as a commercial photographer. Over the years he has worked for some of the top advertising agencies around the country for clients such as..
AARP, AT&T, Best Western, Boston Market, Case Logic, Chimera, Colorado Rockies, Denver Broncos, Discovery Channel, Goldman Sachs, Hewlett Packard, Hyatt, Phillips 66 Aviation, Pentax, Philip Morris USA, National Geographic, Nikon, Qwest, Red Robin, Roper, Ruger, Sony, Trimble, USA Boxing, Village Inn, Visa, Volvo and Xcel Energy. His assignments has taken him to every state across the USA and to over fifty countries around the globe.
Joel has been recognized over the years with dozens of advertising awards and also been featured in numerous photographic publications from Communications Arts to Polaroids P Magazine, as well as a documentary on PBS.
In 1992 he produced his first national interest coffee table book, entitled ‘Navajo, Portrait of a Nation’ (Westcliff Publishing). See the blurb just across the page. In addition to receiving a number of photographic and design awards, this project produced an eighteen-month solo exhibit at the Smithsonian American History museum in Washington DC.
